New for 2017, the stunning Chevrolet Equinox offers a few changes and some exciting new options for drivers in Western New York, including a new exterior color, two new appearance packages, a new Premier trim level and a new fleet-only model. If you've been thinking of upgrading your ride to a midsize SUV, the 2017 Equinox should be at the top of your list.
Drivers shopping for an affordable crossover option can still opt for an entry-level 2017 Equinox L, LS, and LT. But, new for the model-year, Chevrolet has added a brand-new trim level: the 2017 Chevy Equinox Premier, which takes the place of the automaker's classic LTZ trim--a change that we'll be seeing in more Chevy models as time goes on. Exterior colors Champagne Silver Metallic and Tungsten Metallic are retired this year in favor of an exciting new Nightfall Gray Metallic color option. Also new for 2017 are two new packages: the cold Midnight Package and the athletic new Sport Package.
What doesn't change for the sturdy Equinox is a capable performance on both smooth highways and rough country backroads. Full-time all-wheel drive is still available on all new Equinox models, including the Premier, and allows for more confidence in less-than-ideal weather, including rain, sleet, snow, and high wind.
More similarities to other Chevrolet Equinox models include a standard 182-horsepower 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder, with impressive fuel economy and a smooth, easy ride quality, as well as an optional 3.6-liter V6 engine with 301 horsepower and 272 pound-feet of torque. The four can tow up to 1,500 pounds, and the V6 can tow up to 3,500.
