TECHNICIAN TUESDAY: Cassandra Gentner

For this week’s #TechnicianTuesday, we headed over to West Herr Subaru of Orchard Park to meet Service Advisor, Cassandra Gentner! Cassandra just celebrated her one-year anniversary on Team West Herr!

Cassandra first began her career in the RV industry, detailing recreational vehicles. She then began to gain interest into service writing when those vehicles would come in to be fixed, so she gave that a try as well. Cassandra said she always knew she wanted to end up in the automotive industry, but she was waiting for the perfect opportunity.

She says that she loves being on the Service side of this industry because of the busyness of the job. She explains that she also loves being able work with so many people on a day-to-day basis. “You work with the customer, the manufacturer, the techs, the parts department, it’s super fun,” Cassandra says.

Cassandra says that when she was ready to transition into automotive, the first place to pop into her head was West Herr. “It’s known that West Herr has a great reputation,” she adds. She says that she knew s lot of people who worked for West Herr and never had a bad thing to say about it. Cassandra says she was worried she wasn’t going to be able to find an open position that would fit her needs, but one became open at the perfect time, so she knew it was meant to be!

Cassandra says her favorite memories working at West Herr have been the employee recognition initiatives. She speaks on being able to go to the Carrie Underwood and how much fun that was! She also says there is no shortage of support or encouragement, especially from management.

Cassandra just recently celebrated her one-year anniversary with West Herr this past April! “It kind of surprised me how fast my one-year came up,” she says. She explains that she has no feelings of exhaustion or not wanting to come to work every day. “Every day is new and exciting, and if there ever were to be an issue, everyone is so willing to solve problems and quickly at that,” she adds.

She states that her favorite part of her job is never being bored! Cassandra also says that Subaru is such an incredible manufacturer to work for because they truly want to help the customer. “We get to deliver good news way more than bad news, which is awesome,” Cassandra says.

Outside of work, Cassandra loves to stay active with her family! She is married with two daughters, ages 6 & 10, who love to run and play softball! She is currently coaching three softball teams, and she facilitates a women’s running program that her oldest daughter participates in. Her husband and her are huge foodies and love to cook.

Cassandra says that she feels so lucky to work in such a supportive and close-knit store. “The other Service Advisors are amazing,” she adds. Cassandra says she loves working with Frank Genco and appreciates his willingness to share his knowledge. She also states she loves to work with Nicole Candelario, who Cassandra often learns a lot from. Lastly, Cassandra wanted to shout out her Service manager, Scott Hornberger. She says any problem we have; Scott finds a solution one way or another.

When looking towards the future, Cassandra says she is certain she will stay on the service side of things. She says one day she could see herself working towards a Service Manager role, but for now, she is super content with where she is!
