TECHNICIAN TUESDAY: Evan Przybylak

June 18th, 2024 by
For this week’s Technician Tuesday, we sat down with Collision Technician, Evan Przybylak. Evan is currently working at our West Herr Collision Center Hamburg location and has been for the last four years now!
When Evan was considering a career, there was never a doubt in his mind that he wanted to work in the automotive industry. He mentions that he went into this directly out of high school. Before beginning at West Herr, he was able to get some hands-on experience through a program at BOCES that he completed in high school.
Evan says that when he was deciding on which path to go down, whether it be mechanical or collision, he really loved doing work to the outside of the car versus the inside. “I really love seeing the before and after on the cars, that’s the best,” Evan says.
When Evan talks about choosing where he would like to start his career, he mentions West Herr was a clear choice simply because of the people. “Everyone in that shop will help you no matter what. You don’t always see that,” he mentions.
“A lot of the veterans will drop what they’re doing to help you, and I make sure to do the same as well,” Evan adds.
Evan says that one of the best memories he has in his time here at West Herr was working with his mentor, Doug Sobilo. Doug has been working at west herr for over 42 years now, so Evan was able to learn a lot from him while working under him! He also says something he is very proud of in his time here was graduating the Apprentice Program.
Alongside Doug, there are a few other co-workers that have really helped Evan get to where he is today. He mentions Ken Meyer, his Shop Manager, and Chris Tkaczyk, Director of Collision Operations. Evan also wanted to say that if he could shout out every single person at his shop he would.
Evan also wanted to mention how thankful he is for his BOCES teacher, Bob Verso!
When Evan is not working, he loves to stay active and be outside! He and his girlfriend love to bring their pup, Winston, to state parks to go for long walks. He loves to attend car shows and loves attending Buffalo Cars & Coffee! He also does a little sports photography on the side as well!
Evan aspires to become better and better as a Collision Technician. He says a goal of his is to keep obtaining certifications and work his way to become a painter!
When asking Evan what one tool is he cannot live without as a Collision Technician, he quickly mentions his 10 MM Socket!
Evan has such a drive, and we can’t wait to see all that he accomplishes on #TeamWestHerr!
