TECHNICIAN TUESDAY: Kincaid Porter
For this week’s Technician Tuesday, we went to West Herr Auto Glass of Williamsville to meet Kincaid Porter, an Auto Glass technician who has been working with West Herr since March of 2024. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Kincaid takes pride in his work and keeps drivers safe with expert glass repair and replacement. He is a car lover and enthusiast who loves working on cars and being hands on in the work he does.

Before joining West Herr, Kincaid worked at another auto glass repair company for 2 years where he first got into the industry of working on cars. He wanted to work for a more tight knit company and West Herr was the one he found that he felt like he could work at. Ever since he joined West Herr, he enjoys coming to work everyday for a company that really values their employees. He feels important and appreciated in his role, and knew that was something he wanted to be a part of in his career. One of the memories he has made while working at West Herr is when he took his whole family to the Employee Appreciation Concert that featured Carrie Underwood that the company put on for their employees “I have never been with a company that has done something like that.”

Kincaid appreciates that his job allows him to continue to grow and develop in his position. He says one of his favorite things is to be able to learn new things everyday alongside his coworkers. He mentions he is where he is today because of all the people who have helped train him. He appreciates the help from other technicians at the various West Herr body shops such as Anthony Paradis, Rob Emke, Charles Matheis, Peter Nigro, and that is just a few of the people he has mentioned. The people he shouted out and worked with are always open to helping him and have made him feel comfortable to always be able to ask for help when he needs it. Kincaid’s coworkers have never made him feel nervous or anxious to ask for help. His future dream is to be able to one day go to school and become Master Tech Certified. Surely, with the support of Kincaid’s coworker and his hard work and dedication, he will one day get there.

Outside of work Kincaid says he enjoys watching Sports, hanging out with friends and his girlfriend or family along with traveling. He loves to travel and treasure each and every moment with the people around him. He has enjoyed everywhere he has traveled to such as Miami, Charleston, and West Virginia. Some spots on Kincaid’s travel bucket list are Hawaii, Greece, and Tokyo. Kincaid is an all around sports enthusiast, including football and basketball. Being born in Cleveland his favorite basketball team is Cavaliers and favorite football team being the Bills.

As a word of advice from our Technician Tuesday, “You’re not going to know everything right away. Sometimes I’ll get frustrated because I feel like I should know how to do it the right way and as efficiently as I want it to be, but sometimes that is not the case. So, just don’t beat yourself up, things will come through time. Build up your confidence, repetition will help and you’re going to get better at it.”
We at West Herr are thankful to have such a hard working and dedicated employee such as Kincaid! We are lucky to have Kincaid and look forward to all the accomplishments he will have!
