TECHNICIAN TUESDAY: Rachael Evans

For this week’s Technician Tuesday, we headed over to the brand-new West Herr Subaru of Lockport to meet Service Assistant Rachael Evans! Rachael has been with West Herr for just over six months now, and originally stared at our West Herr Subaru of Orchard Park location but transferred over to our all-new Lockport location!

Before working in the automotive industry, Rachael was in the RV industry. She mentioned she was really interested in the mechanics of RV’s, which is what gave her the push to try automotive.

Like many people, Rachael’s first introduction to West Herr was being a customer. She wanted to purchase her first ever new vehicle, so she headed over to West Herr Subaru of Orchard Park and did just that! She mentioned what caught her eye was how friendly and welcoming the staff was.

“That was an environment that I wanted to be emerged in. It just seemed like everyone was happy to be at work,” Rachael says. Soon after that experience, Rachael began as her employment with West Herr and soon felt at home. “Everyone wanted to help each other out. This company truly cares for their employees & customers,” she adds.

Rachael says when she heard about the new Subaru location in Lockport, she volunteered to be transferred over to help build the store from the ground up. She mentions that she looked at this as a commitment to West Herr, and mentioned she knows she would love to one day move up in the company and thought this would be a great way to gain experience.

“I’ve never helped open a new facility, so I’m learning a lot, but also helping others learn, too. Which is great,” she adds.

Rachael mentions that when she is not working, she’s very much still around cars. Her and her fiancé, Dylan, love to partake in Autocross on the weekends. She also loves to play video games and loves to hang out with her cat, Appa!

Rachael says throughout her time here, she has had a lot of people who have helped her get to where she is today. The first person to pop into her mind is Nicole Candelairo, a Service Advisor at West Herr Subaru of Orchard Park. “Any time I had a question she would help as best she could, or find someone who could step in to help,” Rachael says.

She mentions that the rest of the Service Advisor team at the Orchard Park location have really helped her succeed. She also wanted to shout out her Service Manager, Todd Nicosia, for always seeing the best in her!

One fun fact about Rachael is that she also has her Cosmetology License! She mentioned she may want to get back into doing hair on the side someday, but truly loves the direction in which her career is going at West Herr.

“I can’t explain enough how happy I am at West Herr. I would recommend it to anyone,” Rachael says.

When it comes to Rachael’s career at West Herr, she is thinking long-term and has a set of goals in which she would love to achieve. She has ambitions to work her way up the chain to end up as a Service Manager. With her drive & ambition, this is totally possible for Rachael!
