TECHNICIAN TUESDAY: Shaun Wimble

November 18th, 2025 by
For this week’s Technician Tuesday, we visited BMW of Buffalo to meet Shaun Wimble, a technician who has been with the store for 16 years, long before the location became part of West Herr. Born and raised in Kenmore, New York, Shaun grew up around cars and the automotive world. His father worked in the industry for 30 years, and Shaun spent much of his childhood in the shop with him, learning the craft hands-on. It’s the only career he ever truly saw himself doing, and nearly 20 years later, he’s still passionate about it.
Before joining BMW of Buffalo, Shaun worked at Firestone and Goodyear, where he first got his start after high school. What drew him to dealership life was the efficiency, support, and access to proper diagnostic tools. “It just makes the job easier,” he shared. “You don’t have to wait for parts to come in from all over, everything you need is right there.” When West Herr acquired the store, Shaun knew he wanted to stay. One moment that stood out to him was when leadership, Scott Bieler & Beth Hollis, first walked through the shop,  a simple interaction that made him feel respected and valued from the start. “That stuck with me,” he said.
In his time with West Herr, one of Shaun’s favorite memories was attending the Employee Appreciation Concert featuring Carrie Underwood. While it wasn’t his usual music taste, it became a special moment because family members flew up from Florida to join him. Being able to enjoy the event with both coworkers and loved ones was something he’ll always remember.
Shaun is grateful for the people at BMW of Buffalo who have impacted his career, especially Shop Foreman John Tronolone, who not only helped Shaun get his foot in the door but also knew his father years ago. “It’s crazy to think I grew up hearing stories about him, and now we work side by side,” Shaun said. That full-circle moment is one of the things he appreciates most about his journey.
After nearly two decades as a technician, Shaun’s goals are simple, keep working hard, keep learning, and continue building the life he wants. He takes things day by day and embraces growth as it comes naturally. What he loves most about his job is the positive shop environment. “There’s no pressure or hostility. The vibe is good. That’s worth more than anything. I enjoy coming into work every day.” His favorite projects to work on typically involve suspension and brake work, and the tool he values most is a good-quality light, which he says is essential for a proper visual inspection.
Outside of work, Shaun lives an active lifestyle filled with hobbies. He is an accomplished powerlifter, having competed since 2023 and even setting a New York State bench press record of 410 lbs at his very first meet. He has competed at Nationals and Worlds, winning his class two years in a row. When he’s not training, he enjoys riding motorcycles with his dad, attending car meets, working on his own vehicles, spending Sundays watching the Bills, and staying busy all year round.
As advice for anyone entering the field, Shaun says, “Slow down. Don’t be too eager. Don’t get ahead of yourself. Things take time,  you’ll get there.” He believes confidence and repetition are key to growing as a technician.
We at West Herr are grateful to have such a dedicated, skilled, and hardworking technician like Shaun as part of our BMW of Buffalo team. We look forward to all the incredible accomplishments still ahead for him!
