TECHNICIAN TUESDAY: Tim Gaspar
For this week’s #TechnicianTuesday, we headed over to West Herr Toyota of Rochester to meet Service Manager, Tim Gaspar! After 33 years in the automotive industry, Tim is retiring at the end of May 2025!
Tim’s career started 33 years ago at a Ford dealership as a technician. He says before starting in the industry, he didn’t quite know what he wanted to do. His brother worked as the manager at the time, so Tim decided to give that a shot. Apparently, it worked out very well for him!
Tim stayed at his first dealership for about eight years, working his way up to being a Service Manager. In 2000, Tim transferred to what was then Vanderstyne Toyota but today is West Herr Toyota of Rochester. For the last 25 years, Tim has worked under the same roof and says he’s loved every second of it. “There were a lot of great memories working for Toyota all these years,” Tim says. He mentions how much he’s enjoyed working for the brand and is happy that is where he is ending his career.
West Herr acquired Vanderstyne Toyota back in 2021, so Tim has been with Team West Herr for about four years now! He mentioned that when he found out they were being purchased by West Herr, he had no worries about it. “I knew about West Herr before and I knew it wasn’t going to be an issue,” Tim says. He also adds that if it was anyone, he was glad it was West Herr.
Tim says he has an amazing team of employees that work under him on the Fixed Ops side. “A lot of the Technicians have been there with me for the full 25 years I’ve been here,” he says. One of Tim’s favorite parts of his job is looking back on the success of the month during month end. “Looking back on everything the team did, we have respectable numbers,” Tim adds.
Outside of work, Tim jokes that his only hobby is – work! He is excited to step into his grandfather role upon retirement. Tim has five grandchildren that he cannot wait to hang out and spend more time with in his newfound free time. Tim and his wife are also looking forward to traveling! One of their favorite things to do together is attend the horse races in Saratoga Springs, a tradition that they have been doing for the last 10 years.
Tim says one if the things he will miss most is the solid team of technicians that he’s put together in the 25 years he’s been here! “We have a really solid group of guys here,” he adds.
As Tim’s career is coming to a close, he wanted to stress how much he’s enjoyed working for West Herr in the last few years. “I absolutely loved working for West Herr, they did me right up until the very end,” Tim says.
Tim, we sincerely appreciate all your hard work and dedication over the last 33 years, and we hope you enjoy this next chapter of your life! Congratulations on your retirement, Tim!

Tim,
You have always been great with customer service going back to Vanderstyne Ford across the road. I always enjoyed our 11 pm conversations when you were with Ford in the “all night service shift” when I brought my cars in for service. You will be starting a new adventure… how will Scott Bieler replace you? Congratulations! Hope to see you around Hilton.
