West Herr Kicks off 2024 Turkey Drive by donating 300 Turkeys & Thanksgiving Food Items to Response to Love Center
Congressman Tim Kennedy today thanked Scott Bieler, President and CEO of West Herr Automotive Group, as well as members of his Executive Team, for dropping off frozen turkeys and accompanying bags of Thanksgiving food items at the Response to Love Center in the City of Buffalo, all of which are going to families in need.
Tim Kennedy said, “Thanksgiving is a time to come together, give back, and show gratitude for the many blessings in our lives. This event, made possible by the compassion and generosity of so many Western New Yorkers, is a great example of that. This donation represents more than just a meal—it is providing families in need with an opportunity to for families to gather, share in traditions, and make memories. I am grateful for the Response to Love Center’s work to fight food insecurity in our region, and for Scott Bieler, President and CEO of West Herr Automotive Group and the West Herr team for their commitment to Western New York.”
The turkeys and other items delivered to the Response to Love Center were a portion of a larger total of more than $100,000 in frozen turkeys donated by the West Herr Automotive Group, and over 5,000 bags of Thanksgiving related food items collected from employees and customers across West Herr’s 40 locations over the past month.
“Thanks to West Herr, the turkeys and accompanying bags of food, were unloaded this afternoon and will be distributed to some of the most vulnerable residents on Saturday – with plenty of time to prepare for their Thanksgiving celebrations,” said Sister Johnice.
Mr. Bieler said, “This truly is the City of Good Neighbors. We are so thankful for all the support from our customers and employees who make this donation possible. We are proud and grateful to be a part of this wonderful community and feel blessed to be able to help those who need it most.”
The Response to Love Center was just one of many stops in Buffalo and throughout Western New York, Rochester, Finger Lakes Region, and East Syracuse where West Herr dropped off the donations.
As a result of this annual West Herr Thanksgiving Food Drive, forty-five community organizations received the donations, which totaled 5000 bags of food items and 5500 turkeys. The turkeys weighed in at over 75,000 pounds and were delivered in 15 trucks by 35 volunteers. This marks the largest Thanksgiving donation made to date by the annual West Herr Drive and will feed thousands this coming holiday.
