WEST HERR WEDNESDAY: Amanda Duffy
For this week’s West Herr Wednesday, we visited West Herr Ford of Hamburg to meet Sales Consultant Amanda Duffy! Amanda has been in the auto industry for about three and a half years. She was looking for a change, and after some encouragement from her mom to “go work with your father!,” she decided to take the leap into automotive sales onto a selling team available for job share with her father, Bill Pease.
Before joining West Herr, Amanda worked in accounts payable, and payroll. She never pictured herself in sales, but she was craving something different, and now she says she never wants to look back. “It’s something different every day. I love getting to meet people, talk to people, and help people,” she shared.

Amanda still laughs thinking about her first week on the job, when she had to park a Super Duty truck around the used car lot. “I was so nervous to do little things like that,” she admitted.
Even though her dad works for West Herr, Amanda says her interest in joining the company wasn’t just because of him. She had always bought her cars from West Herr and consistently had great experiences. “You always hear great things about West Herr!” she said. Her father, who has been in the automotive industry since 1981, certainly knows a thing or two as well.
Some of Amanda’s best memories at West Herr have come from meeting new people and helping customers. She’s especially grateful for the managers she’s worked with, describing them as incredibly supportive. When she first started, she knew nothing about cars, but with patience—and a lot of help from her dad—she quickly caught on. Amanda is also super grateful for her Sales Assistant, Mel!
Outside of work, Amanda loves spending time with her three children, ages 16, 13, and 9 and her husband, John. She stays busy with soccer games and taking care of her pets, including her Labradoodle, mini Goldendoodle, chickens, and her new Ragdoll kitten. She also has a tuxedo cat, who the family discovered under a truck engine!
In sales, no two days are ever the same, and that’s one of the reasons Amanda enjoys it so much. Looking ahead, her goals are to stay in sales, keep her father’s customers happy once he retires, and one day earn her place in the President’s Club. Last year, her team sold 373 vehicles! That’s well on their way toward that achievement.
She still remembers her first few sales on her own: an Escape, a Nissan Frontier, and another Escape. One of those early customers still stops by the dealership to have coffee with her from time to time. “The best are the repeat customers because you know them, and they know you,” Amanda said. Amanda’s favorite part of the job is the daily interaction with people, and she wants to give a big shoutout to her dad for being her mentor. “Without him, I wouldn’t be able to do all of this.” Thanks to the team environment at West Herr, she’s able to balance work and family with ease.
Her advice for anyone considering a career change later in life: start sooner, and don’t be afraid. She knew she needed more, and she loves that “in this business, you’re always learning.”
We appreciate your hard work Amanda!
