WEST HERR WEDNESDAY: Amber Trost

For this week’s West Herr Wednesday, we headed over to West Herr Subaru of Orchard Park to meet Sales Consultant, Amber Trost! Amber has been a part of Team West Herr for almost ten years now!

When asking Amber how she started in the car business, she said it was not planned. “This opportunity just fell into my lap,” Amber says. Before working in automotive, Amber worked in the hospitality industry as a waitress and bartender. She worked at a locally owned restaurant in Derby, NY, where she coincidentally waited on our President & CEO, Scott Bieler. He gave her the opportunity to come work for West Herr, and at first, she didn’t have much of an interest in that. After some consideration, Amber decided to take Scott up on his offer, and the rest is history!

When Amber first started, she began as a Sales Assistant where she learned the ropes for about three years. She then decided to move up to Sales Consultant, which is where she has been for the last several years and has excelled in! Amber proudly added that she has been in the President’s Club for the last five years in a row!

Amber says a lot of her favorite memories at West Herr come from her customers. “To be able to help someone find exactly what they need, and then for them to refer friends and family to me, it’s really cool,” she adds. She says that it is also one of the favorite parts of her job as well. “It’s awesome when customers call me and let me know what they’re looking for, and I can find them the perfect fit,” Amber says.

Amber says that a large part of why she’s been with West Herr for so long is mainly the culture of the company and the industry. “They really value us as employees, if you do a good job, they acknowledge it,” she says. Amber also mentions that her she has a solid management team, and she knows that they always have her back in any situation.

Outside of work, Amber loves going to concerts and traveling! She is a huge country music fan and cannot wait to go see Morgan Wallen this summer. She most recently was in the Dominican for the President’s Club trip which was super fun. She has ambitions to travel to Europe soon! She also has her hands full with her two dogs, Raven & Oden! She also is a huge Bills fan and loves to go to the games!

Amber mentions that she is so thankful to work with such a close-knit store because she feels like she can depend on everyone there. “Our General Manager, Justin Morgante, is so supportive. I know I can count on him for anything,” Amber says. “I’ve worked with Marty Willnow for the entirety of my time here, and he is always willing to help out,” she adds. She also wanted to give a shoutout to her amazing Sales Assistant, Mckenzie Schmitt! Amber mentions how much she appreciates all her help!

Amber says she has a sale that will always stick out in her head. She mentions she had a customer who was referred to them from the PUNT Pediatric Cancer foundation as they needed a new vehicle. The customer had a son with cancer and when she came to take delivery on her new car, they made them feel extra special! “We brought the PUNT team here, everyone had matching t-shirts, we gave them flowers & some Team West Herr swag, it was really special,” Amber adds.

Amber just recently found out that she was named one of the Top 25 Subaru Sales Consultants in the Northeast District! She says this is such a huge accomplishment because not only do you have to sell a certain amount of Subaru’s, but you also must have a certain number of customer satisfaction surveys as well. “It’s a huge accomplishment,” she says.
