WEST HERR WEDNESDAY: Carlos Adrian
For this week’s West Herr Wednesday, we headed over to West Herr Chevrolet of East Syracuse to meet with Sales Consultant & EV Specialist, Carlos Adrian. Carlos has been on Team West Herr for about three years now!
Prior to working in the automotive industry, Carlos worked for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, as well as Syracuse University in compliance. Before then, he and his father opened an appliance and record shop in New York City, where he is originally from, and mentioned he gained a lot of sales experience from that role.
Carlos had been working at East Syracuse Chevrolet before it had been acquired by West Herr. He mentioned that he had a friend that worked for West Herr and gave him encouragement to stay because it really is the best company to work for. Carlos’ friend and West Herr General Manager, Dan Dettorre. said, “Congratulations, you guys just won the lottery,”. Carlos heard him out and took his advice, and he is so happy he did! When West Herr acquired East Syracuse Chevrolet, Carlos made the first sale under West Herr ownership! That same customer recently came back to pick up another vehicle from Carlos, so he says it is very much a “full circle moment,”.
In the years working at West Herr, Carlos says that one of his favorite things about working here is our coffee machine! He mentions the espresso is top notch. He also says from working here, it is evident how much the company cares for their employees. “It has provided me with a whole lot more confidence and it makes my job a whole lot easier,” Carlos says.
When Carlos isn’t working, he loves to relax with music! He says he has quite a wide range of music he listens to, depending on his mood. He also loves to travel with his family. He recently took a trip with his family to Italy and other European countries; he says this is his favorite trip he’s been on to date. He and his family have ambitions to travel to Japan!
When speaking on significant co-workers, he mentions it’s hard to pick just one. “Everyone has the same DNA here,” he adds. Carlos says that all his co-workers, both new and old have helped him in some way. “I think it has to do with the top. We have a great example of what to do and how to do it,” Carlos mentions.
When speaking goals with Carlos, he mentions he just wants to serve his customers as best as he can. Carlos recently achieved President’s Club through West Herr, meaning he’s sold at least 200 cars this year! Carlos mentions he preaches the motto, “one a day,” meaning if you focus on selling just one vehicle a day, the numbers will fall into place.
He has three rules when dealing with his customers. One: He needs the customer to leave in a better position than when they came in. Two: He will not sell his customer the least expensive car for the sake of selling a car. And three: He will not sell the customer their last car.
Carlos mentions he feels lucky to be the EV Specialist at East Syracuse Chevrolet. He mentions because of his previous experience, he has been involved with the early adaptors of electric vehicles while working in education. He says, “the most important thing about EV’s is understanding them,” Carlos says. He personally drives an EV and says it is a helpful tool to help sell them because he truly understands how they function and how they run.
Carlos has such a drive and an amazing work ethic, and we are so lucky to have him on Team West Herr! Keep up the amazing work, Carlos!
