WEST HERR WEDNESDAY: Mayda Miller

Mayda mentioned that the reason she had wanted to get into the automotive industry in the first place was due to her previous selling experience in other roles. She adds that she felt very comfortable talking to people on the phone and liked being that “behind the scenes” person. Mayda’s first job in the field was at another local dealership working in the BDC doing internet sales.

During Covid, Mayda was working from home a few years along with the rest of the world. She says that she was starting to want a new adventure, and at the same time her husband, a Sales Consultant for West Herr, needed an assistant! Leonard Miller, Mayda’s husband, asked if she would want to work with him and she immediately jumped at the opportunity!

When asking Mayda what the best part about her job is, she mentions it’s getting to meet new people every day. “Building relationships with the people you work with every day, and the customers you work with. They become lifers,” she says.

Mayda also is bilingual, so she says that she feels gifted to be able to speak to a larger audience. “Being able to educate the Latin community and to be that front face they see is amazing. I feel lucky that I get to build trust because with a language barrier sometimes it’s hard to gain trust right off the bat,” Mayda adds.

She says that she will have co-workers call on her to help translate if they have a Spanish speaking customer, and it is one of her favorite things to help with. “Being able to be that first line of communication makes me feel so good,” she says.

When Mayda is not working, she is a mother to four kids and is always super busy! She mentions she is a cheer & lacrosse mom, so they love to all stay active!

Throughout Mayda’s time here at West Herr, she says there was a lot of people here who’ve helped her get to where she is today. She wanted to shoutout Ben MacDonald, who is the current General Manager of our West Herr Ford of Amherst location. “He’s coached me in both my work & personal life. I can truly call him one of my friends,” Mayda adds.

She also wanted to recognize Beth Hollis, the Vice President of Variable Operations for West Herr. “Just seeing how empowering and graceful she is very inspiring. She really exemplifies the West Herr culture, she is very inspiring,” she says.

Lastly, she wanted to of course give a shoutout to her husband, Leonard. She mentions that she is so lucky to work with him and that they make an amazing team.

Looking into the future, Mayda has many goals set for herself that she would love to achieve. She mentions that one day she wants to be able to do sales fulltime, alongside her husband. She has ambitions on being a Sales Team with Leonard, and with her drive that is certainly doable!
