WEST HERR WEDNESDAY: Parker Harris

For this week’s West Herr Wednesday, we headed over to West Herr KIA to meet Sales Consultant, Parker Harris. Parker has been with West Herr for about seven months now!

Parker is originally from Upstate New York but has moved around quite a bit. He moved to Atlanta for a change of scenery, but little did he know, that would be where he gets his start in the automotive industry. He mentioned he worked for a company where he would go door to door to try and sell replacement windows, roofing & siding. One day, he popped into a car dealership and ended up leaving with a job! Parker said he never had a drive to work as a car salesman, it just worked out like that!

Parker decided he wanted to move back towards home, and his brother, Peter, works at our West Herr Ford of Hamburg location, and was telling Parker how wonderful of a company West Herr is to work for. After hearing his brother out, Parker decided he wanted to apply for a job to West Herr. Parker got called for an interview the day he was driving 14 hours back home, and he decided to drive right to the interview instead!

Parker was committed to this job since day one. Something that makes Parker interesting is that he lives in Pennsylvania and drives about three hours round trip to commute to work! He mentions that in the Winter months, it can sometimes take four hours one way, having him leave his house around 4am.

He says although there are dealerships to work at in the state that he lives, he loves his job at West Herr and what the company stands for. “I’ve heard the horror stories of other dealerships, and I don’t want to find that out,” he says. He also says he’s not wanting to fix anything if it’s not broken. He enjoys his routine that he’s gotten into at West Herr, and he simply says, “It’s worth it.”

Parker says that one of his favorite things over the last seven months is really connecting with his customer base. “I had customers checking in on me for the holidays, it’s just the small things,” he says. He also says he loves growing into the culture at the KIA store. He mentions that he works with some great people, and he’s excited to keep getting to know his co-workers.

Even though most of Parker’s day is driving, he still finds time to enjoy hobbies of his own. He says last year for his birthday, he bought himself a boat and loves to take it out on the water! He also is still working on updating his house, and he even has a podcast that he records & produces in his spare time! He also has two daughters & two dogs that keep him busy as well!

Parker said that getting adjusted to the West Herr culture was a smooth transition because his previous dealership in Atlanta held a lot of the same values. He mentioned that his coworkers Jay & Manny also helped him get acquainted and he is very appreciative of that! He also wanted to shout out Customer Care Manager, Shar!

In the seven months that Parker has been on Team West Herr, he has already made President’s Club! Parker has an undeniable drive, and we cannot wait to see all that he accomplishes. Keep up the great work, Parker!
