WEST HERR WEDNESDAY: Peter Magnone

June 25th, 2025 by
For this week’s #WestHerrWednesday, we headed over to West Herr Toyota of Rochester to meet Sales Assistant, Peter Magnone! Peter just recently had his one-year anniversary with West Herr, and mentions he is loving every second of it.
The automotive industry was brand new to Peter. Before working at West Herr, Peter was a truck driver but needed a change of pace. “I can’t keep talking to no one all day,” Peter jokes. That is when he decided to give automotive sales a shot, and he’s thankful he did!
He mentions that he wanted to give the automotive industry a chance for a few reasons. Peter says that he’s always had an interest in all types of cars, and that he genuinely loves helping people. Meshing those two together, it only makes sense that automotive sales would be the outcome! Peter was very passionate about working at a Toyota store because of the quality of their products. “If I’m working somewhere, I want to believe in the product and feel good about what I’m selling customers,” he mentions.
He had a friend who was trying to convince him to come give West Herr Toyota of Rochester a chance, and Peter thought on that for about a year. When he was ready to make the jump, there was a Lot Attendant position that had opened, and Peter was in. He mentioned that it was an adjustment coming from his previous career to this, but Peter was determined to make it work. “Whatever I have to do to start,” he says.
Throughout his one year here at West Herr, he is already making his way up the chain. Peter was a Lot Attendant when first starting out and then became an Inventory Control Manager. He is now a Sales Consultant to Shane Price, with ambitions to work his way to a full time Sales Consultant on his own soon.
Peter said that in his time here at West Herr, some of his favorite memories are in the winter when they clear the cars as a team! “Some people find it annoying, but I love the team aspect of it,” he adds. He mentions that he just loves to be around people and being able to joke around with his co-workers.
He adds that he is thankful West Herr is an “Employee First” workplace. “When I started here, I said I want to work at one place forever. So, I really want to be here forever,” Peter says. In his short time here, Peter has already made such a mark on the culture in his dealership. He says he wants to grow with the people at his store and that he’s found the place he wants to build out the entirety of his career at.
When looking bigger picture, Peter’s next goal is to become a Sales Consultant on his own. When thinking years down the line, Peter would ultimately love to end up in management one day.
Outside of work, Peter loves to spend time with his fiancé and his dogs! He has two American Bullys named Benwell & Theodore that he loves to take for walks! He also has two older cars that he works on and rebuilds in his spare time.
Peter mentions he is super thankful to work with some amazing people. “Shane Price is awesome and I’m learning a lot from him,” he says. Peter says he’s thankful to have such a supportive management staff, specifically his General Manager, Jay Jay. “I go to him any time I need advice, he’s always so helpful,” Peter adds.
There are so many parts of Peter’s job that he loves, but one is building relationships with his customers. “I love when a customer is looking for something specific and we’re able to find it. Being able to text back and forth until we get them what we need, it’s the best,” he says. Peter says, “It’s not about the cars, it’s not about the sales, it’s about the customers.”
Peter has been an amazing addition to #TeamWestHerr and we cannot wait to see where his ambition and drive take him! Keep up the amazing work, Peter!
